Libya’s 2024 Energy & Economic Summit took place over the weekend, with a wide range of delegations from nation states and national and international companies attending.
Eltumi Partners was proud to be a sponsor of the event. The theme of the summit was “A New Libya: Built on Energy”, and the discussions and panels focused on fostering impactful partnerships, exploring energy opportunities and driving economic growth in Libya.
Among some of the key topics covered were the extent of Libya’s untapped opportunities in renewable energy, ongoing efforts to minimise emissions in energy operations and Libya’s emergence as a strategic energy hub in the region, Europe more broadly, and globally.
Indeed, Libya’s energy sector has seen significant international action in the last year. Major international energy companies have lifted their force majeures on energy projects in Libya and have already begun the process of recommencing work. The year has also seen significant international investment in Libyan energy, particularly from European energy heavyweights.
The Summit has been a valuable opportunity for the energy community to converge and map out future pathways for Libyan energy, and the next year could prove to be a pivotal moment for Libya to fully emerge as a major global energy market.
