Libya’s Nafusah Oil Operations company has begun works to connect oil fields at Nafusah to the El-Feel pipeline.

The connection to the El-Feel pipeline will establish a direct connection from the Nafusah oil fields to the Mellitah Oil & Gas complex on the north-west coast of the country.

It is understood that once the connections are complete, and other developments made, the connection from the Nafusah oil fields should transport up to 10,000 barrels per day by early 2024.

The project at Nafusah is an example of Libya’s work towards increasing its hydrocarbon output in the immediate years ahead. The National Oil Corporation (‘NOC’) published its strategic plan earlier this year, which set out a national target of increasing oil production to 2 million barrels per day within five years.

It is understood that the NOC is so far on track to achieve this target, having had a very active year in both re-activating and developing pre-existing oil works, as well as inviting tenders and finalising agreements for new exploration wells and blocks.
