- The Role

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic and dedicated commercial lawyer to join our growing team as an Associate. The successful candidate will join a modern, innovative and progressive law firm that represents and advises major corporate entities in relation to both contentious and non-contentious matters in Libya. The successful candidate will support this firm’s growth and expansion plans and will receive training and development in professional skills, legal knowledge and mentoring. The successful candidate will join a collegiate, collaborative and friendly team which emphasizes strong intellectual capabilities and performing our work according to international standards.

- Job Description

  • Research and prepare legal advice, reports and memos in relation to corporate, commercial, energy and labour law matters, amongst others;
  • Attend and participate in meetings and negotiations on behalf of our clients;
  • Appear before local courts to represent our clients in cases brought by and against them in relation to corporate, commercial, energy and labour matters;
  • Arrange and attend meetings and process filings and submissions with Libyan governmental and regulatory authorities including but not limited to the Ministry of Economy, the Commercial Registry, the Labour Office and Audit Bureau; and
  • Any other legal and administrative matters required from time-to-time.

- The Candidate

  • A bachelors’ degree in law from a leading Libyan university or equivalent (we cannot consider graduates of private universities or similar);
  • A masters’ degree in law or similar from a leading foreign university (preferable but not essential);
  • At least 2 – 6 years work experience in Libya and/or abroad, whether in private practice or in-house;
  • Registered as a practising attorney with the Libyan Bar Association with rights of audience before at least all First Instance Courts;
  • Fluency (written/verbal) in English & excellent command of Arabic language;
  • Strong IT skills (Word; Excel; Outlook; Adobe) and the ability to work effectively via virtual means; and
  • Strong communication skills, hardworking and proven ability to discharge responsibilities and duties with due care and skill.
